Simpleware, the Doctors 3rd eyes
Simpleware provides software for converting 3D images (such as MRI, CT and micro-CT) into models suitable for computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE) and 3D printing/Additive Manufacturing. The Physics Modules represent a new set of fully integrated modules (+SOLID, +FLOW and +LAPLACE) for to Simpleware’s core image processing platform ScanIP. The modules allow users to analyse complex material samples using Finite Element-based homogenisation techniques, which approximate a composite material by one with uniform ‘effective’ properties.
The software offers a novel and unique approach to homogenisation by using Simpleware’s unique multi-domain meshing algorithms for effective material property calculation, making it easier for engineers and researchers to obtain significant information from their composite and other materials data.
+SOLID calculates effective stiffness tensor and elastic moduli for samples; +FLOW calculates absolute permeability, and +LAPLACE effective electrical, thermal, and molecular properties. The modules include options to choose between full FE homogenisation with a built-in solver and rapid calculation of analytical bounds, to reduce the effects of boundary conditions on results, and to generate high-quality data visualisations and animations.
Simpleware will be at stand OR12 during the Engineering Show to discuss the features of the Physics modules and demonstrate how they can help bridge complex imaging data with design and simulation tasks, while allowing rich data to be obtained from scanned images.
