Airbus CFD teams up in the Air of Energy

The Engineering Simulation Show 2015, 15th / 16th April at the Derby Roundhouse, is pleased to announce Vikram Singh Mangat, Airbus Operations will present on the role of CFD at Airbus Fuel Systems. The presentation is scheduled for day 2 (16th April) at 11:30am in Lecture Hall 1.

Abstract:

Simulation plays a key role in aircraft development and in in-service support. Fuel systems at Airbus employ a variety of simulation tools with varying levels of fidelity.

The key drivers for Fuel systems design are safety, reliability and performance in that order. With the use of aircraft experience, engineering judgment, accident investigations and in-service incidents these three drivers translate into system requirements.

CFD plays a key role as a high fidelity simulation solution. In some scenarios it replaces expensive testing as a means of design requirement verification and in other scenarios it enables a better design. In still others, it can be used to improve the quality of low fidelity simulations.
